Gold Award in Consumer programs
Jehad Rasheed is SA Promotions Sales Manager, and while he was at the set-up of the Sydney Motor Show last year, he arranged for racing driver, Stephane Peterhansel, to sign 150 Mitsubishi caps.
Having won the Paris-Dakar race Paris-Dakar rally event six times on a motorcycle and twice in a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV, these caps quickly became highly sought-after merchandise for the Mitsubishi sales team, especially once the Corporate Express graphics department had worked their magic!
The caps were showcased in a numbered presentation box, complete with a photo of Stephane standing on a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV and holding his latest trophy.
Since then, they’ve become a real collector's item, and a perfect opportunity for Mitsubishi to stimulate sales activity within their dealer network.

“Last year, we were approached by Northcott Disability Services, a charity that we support in Regional NSW, to see if we could help them with their pin program,” says Promotions Account Executive, Justine Sinclair.
“I worked closely with our in-house designer in Sydney to create the first of the May Gibbs Gumnut Badges.
“The primary objective of the Gumnut Baby Badge Program is to assist Northcott and The Spastic Centre of NSW to raise funds to assist children with disabilities. The famous Australian writer, May Gibbs, bequeathed the rights of her works to both organisations in 1969, and the pin program launch was designed to coincide with May Gibbs’ 130th anniversary.
“We organised for the pins to be manufactured, and then undertook to distribute them nationally over the Christmas period, to be ready for the campaign launch in January 2007. That meant organising about 2,500 deliveries to leading bookshops, retails stores and banks throughout Australia.
“Our Merchandising and Promotional Warehouse teams worked round the clock to package and distribute the badges in time for the start of the promotion.
“We’ve designed a series of five pins, and we’ve just launched the second one, <check details> and hopefully they’ll become a bit of a collector’s item...they’re certainly beautiful enough!” says Justine.
To date, more than 55,000 Australians <check number> have purchased a Gumnut Baby Badge, which has in turn helped raise funds for the charities and for May Gibbs’ Australian bush characters.
Bronze Award: APPA Supplier Product category
The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) wanted a promotional product for VIP guests at the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington. The item had to raise awareness of Flemington and of course be related to horse racing.
Victoria Account Executive, Tania Gray, worked with a local provider to customise the Fortune Cookie Key Ring. This custom-moulded silver metal key ring has a horse-shoe shape at one end and a fortune cookie (which could be opened) at the other.
The overall ‘luck’ theme was popular with recipients and the ‘fortune’ message inside the cookie read: ‘we hope you enjoy your experience at the Melbourne Cup Carnival’.
The packaging was customised with the Flemington logo to finish off the gift with style.
